Yes there's a bypass line which deviates right after Govindpuri Jn. Quite a handful of passengers trains take that route and bypass CNB, off the top of my head I could think of PRYJ Humsafar, Pratham Swatantrata Sangram & BSB-GNC Express. All the freight trains moving toward PRYJ take this route. Only the freight trains moving toward Lucknow go through CNB.
The arc route that touches Kanpur Cantonment is only taken by passenger trains which have a halt at CNB, and then eventually merge with the route that is mentioned as "bypass"...
