HWH & SDAH requires 30 minutes in average in between. There are many cheap hotels around Sealdah. There is a railway lodge at HWH.
HWH has 23 platforms where SDAH has 17. Howrah is much bigger station than SDAH and the platforms are longer than SDAH too. Though SDAH seems to be busier because of EMU passengers. TTE and security personnel are very common in HWH which is slightly rare sight in SDAH. So, security is better in HWH.

Howrah has 22 active platform. Platform no 16 is inactive. It is not used. Sealdah has total 17 active platform, 3 platform is to be completed soon, then it will be 20 platform in SEALDAH station. Sealdah EMU train is very crowdy. Passengers are very ferocious. EMU Local train in Howrah is very low crowded than Sealdah. TTE checks ticket regularly in Howrah division. TTE is very rare in Sealdah division. SEaldah is very passengers friendly as they can travel without any ticket. Passengers use Sealdah near 18 millions daily & passengers use Howrah 13 millions daily. Actually most of the passengers in Sealdah division is without ticket & illegal. Howrah division is very fair with proper ticket. Presently many trains run bypass Sealdah via Gurudas Banerjee Halt & BBD BAG circular railway to decrease passengers pressure in Sealdah. SEALDAH is BUSIEST RAIL STATION in India
