A Very Good Morning to all admins/members/guests of IRI. Also a VERY HAPPY VISHWAKARMA PUJA which is being celebrated today in West Bengal, Orissa and Bihar. It is a day on which obeisance is paid to Lord Vishwakarma, the celestial ARCHITECT & ENGINEER of the GODS and pujas are performed to machines, vehicles, tools and implements. The BENGALI EQUIVALENT so-to-say of the AYUDHA PUJA in parts of South India. The Lord's vehicle is an ELEPHANT. This puja HERALDS the IMMINENT ADVENT of the bigger PUJA to come viz. the DURGA PUJA commencing on 19th October this time. Today is also the day for KITE FLYING on a MASSIVE SCALE causing equally MASSIVE DISRUPTION to TRAIN SERVICES particularly EMU locals.

VGM PKV Sir and Happy Vishwakarma puja to everyone!!
I still remember the days when I used to visit Chittaranjan Locomotive Works(CLW) on every 17th sept as this is the only day when CLW is open for public.A great opportunity to spot brand new/unfinished locos. Each workshop has their own contribution and they worship team wise.we used to collect prasad from as many workshops as possible.. also MELA outside CLW entrance is a big attraction.with lots of toyshops and eateries setup,it creates a great outing atmosphere today specially for CRJ which has limited source of attraction/entertainment..
