My doubt is how are the remaining coaches get joined back to the up train?

If ur talking abt TEN-JAT train...!! Yes it does have slip Tirunelveli-Jammu Tawi Express/16787 wch joins Himsagar exp and Navyug exp from ED to JAT
the TEN-JAMMU slip express get attached with Himsagar and Navyug express at Erode.while in return get detached at ED and goes to TEN
