This is a clarification of current policies regarding user names. These policies are already part of the site. This is only a clarification - so that everyone understands.
1. Since the very beginning, this site has NEVER required real names of members or any ID verification, or biodata, etc. We do NOT care. Every person is entitled to anonymity while blogging on the internet. The site has always recommended all members to keep their private life SEPARATE, and just come here to learn from others, enjoy the site semi-anonymously, and then go...
more... back to your real life. Do NOT mix your real work/domestic life with blogging on this site. This site is just like a virtual world to exchange useful info. It is not real.
2. Some people use their real names and some people use fictitious names - we don't care. This has been purely up to the user - Real Names are NOT required. There is NO such thing as "fake" ID. One user is ALLOWED to have multiple logins, and it is FINE. The site ALLOWS fictitious names and multiple IDs. We don't care. However, mischief is not allowed (one person's multiple IDs rating each other, etc.)
3. For the above reason, we also don't encourage selfies, etc. as that is private info. Keep your private life private - it is for your own safety.
4. Even if you have a bad experience while blogging on this site, is should NOT affect your real life reputation, domestic life, work, etc. Once you log out, you should be able to resume your real life - activities on this site should ideally have NO effect.
5. To make the above system uniform and official we shall remove the fields user name, permanent name, MoTD, etc. Every user will have ONE user handle
- this field is already being used by the majority of members. This user handle can be your fictitious name OR real name. We don't care. It is BETTER to use a memorable FICTITIOUS name instead of a real name. We don't care how old the member is or their gender or language/religion or any other biodata. However, you cannot change the user handle once assigned.
6. Each account has its own individual Rating Score, blog count, etc. We only care about EACH account's reputation - not whether the multiple IDs belongs to the same person or not.
7. Given the above scheme, FMs take decisions on each user and decide whether any mischief is going on. Decisions are NEVER taken based on whether someone is using fake names, wrong gender, etc. We don't care.
8. Many users keep quitting the system and rejoining the site. This has so far been a manual process. Hereafter, we'll make this automatic. Any user is able to delete his account at ANY time, and rejoin the site at ANY time. However, user handle will be the same. Also, if that user is a monitor, they will automatically be signed out of monitorship.
Here are some guidelines for future blogging:
1. To preserve your privacy while blogging on the internet, do NOT reveal your real names or ANY other personal info, biodata, etc. It is best to use a fictitious/unique and memorable user handle - like a train name, etc. that everyone can remember.
2. EACH username/account's reputation is built by their blogs/participation, NOT based on who they are in real life. This site DOES NOT care who the person is in real life. Keep your real life PRIVATE and SEPARATE. Just participate, have fun, and logout or quit the site.
3. FMs monitor EACH account separately based on site acitivities, NOT based on who the member is.
Once again, the above policies have already been in place for many years now. This is JUST a clarification - that this a STRICTLY moderated site, BUT one that allows virtual semi-anonymous blogging. Keep your name and activities on this site completely separate from your real life.
