Once i booked two seperate tickets (for 9 people,6 people in 1 ticket and another 3 in another ticket) in SL class in 14115 express and the status was cnf1,cnf2... to waiting 7 before chart preparation but upon chart preparation the second ticket(3 passengers) got upgraded to 3rd ac and in the first ticket 5 seats got confirmed and 1 remained waitlisted...i mean the ticket which had more waiting got upgraded and the ticket with less waiting reamined partially confirmed with 1 seat in waiting..
Brother i accept today i was late...but once i was trying to book tkt in the same train from spj to pcoi...and the chart preparation time is around 3:30 pm of this train at bju...and once the chart was out it was showing more than 30 seats available in 3rd ac but when i tried to book it through irctc there it was written 'NOT AVAILABLE'
6 seats may not be avbl & partial upgradation cannot be done, thats why 1st pnr was not upgraded whereas the 3 seats may be avbl in higher class & 2nd Pnr was upgraded. In 1st Pnr, your 2 pax were confirm, next 3 got 3 empty seats at charting & last one remained waiting. Now even if there was 1 more seat avbl in higher class, railway wont upgrade just 6th passenger. Either all on a Pnr or none.
On that day in the coach i was in i mean BE 1 was totally vaccant after chart preparation...i checked the online chart and according to that more than 40 seats in just a single 3A coqch were vaccant..
