Swadesh12608 721 blog postsWith the completion of electrification in the severely underutilized Baiyappanahalli - Omalur line, will 12647 Kongu SF Express be restored to run via this original route?
I'd also like 22666 UDAY Express to get diverted via this route, as it will greatly reduce travel time.

Hosur line is indeed directly connected to Yelahanka line, but doesn't include any major station suitable for a commercial halt. Still, maybe now it could be brought to SMVT from Hosur side via BYPL for reversal, this could be a much better situation than taking it all the way to YPR for reversal like earlier
Ah yes that makes sense. A bypass line must be constructed, but I'm sure there's no space.
Anyway, I hope the traffic on this line increases. It really needs more trains. UDAY running through this line would be amazing to witness.

HSRA line is not directly connected to YNK . HSRA has following route connectivity (HSRA-BYPL-BNCE-SBC or HSRA-BYPL-SMVB-BAND-LOGH-YPR) and HSRA-BAND(Over the BYPL railway main line)-BAND-LOGH-YPR
There is no link between any of these lines directly with YNK. If a train has to go to YNK from HSRA it needs Loco reversal at either of the following closest stations : BYPL, LOGH.

Kongu maybe not anymore cos of LR needed at YPR/SMVB/SBC/BYPL but Uday maybe they can try 2 days via DPJ, HSRA for a period of 6 months and then depending on the success IR can take a decision. Just like the way SBC-NZM Raj was run for 3 days (guess so) a week via KRNT ,KCG for almost 2 yrs but later they made SBC -NZM Raj daily via RC
You have mentioned underutilised BYPL-Omalur line, however as per SWR because of this being single line stretch, it seems to be saturated....all the more reason for them not increasing frequency and adding more trains in this route. Once doubled they obviously will have to start with more trains
