For railfans and trekking enthusiasts around SBC, Makalidurga will be a really good day trip.
I took the SBC DMM Memu from BYPL to MKL (Rs 15) to reach MKL. From there you have to walk for 1.5 km along the railway line towards DMM side to reach the start point of the trek. This is just beside the railway line.
Prior booking is needed in Karnataka eco tourism website for this trek (Rs 300). Total distance is around 4 km for up and down.
