WAG-7s are just as powerful as WAP-4s, so it wouldn't have been too bad. But yes, the acceleration would be slower as it's made for freights
Although WAG - 7s are similar to WAP - 4s, they do have different Gear Ratio and are restricted to a lower MPS of 105 kmph.
