In recent times, many of the routes in and around Bengaluru have become electrified. The last of which was the Bengaluru - Salem line via Hosur, Dharmapuri. The electrification was completed in various stages.
It was notified in the month of June that 12677/78 KSR Bengaluru - Ernakulam Intercity Express would get electric traction from the 1st of July.
