what if one has a RAC e-ticket after chart is prepared and one doesn't show up ...is the amount automatically refunded to the account or one must file TDR? within time limit after train departure?

AFAIK, if you do not travel on an RAC ticket, and you file TDR within stipulated time, you get full refund. So I agree with Mr. Deshpande.
I am not sure, but I would tend to agree with you. If you take an RAC ticket to the PRS, after the chart is prepared then, I think, you get 100% refund. Therefore, if this is true, then it should be true for RAC e-ticket
I am saying because of personal experience. I had an e ticket which remained in RAC even after chart preparation. I did not travel on that ticket and filed TDR. I got full refund minus the transaction charges.
