Hijli is one of the important but neglected station of KGP Division. It is called the satellite station of KGP, but condition of the platforms are poor than any C class station. Platforms have rough irregular surface, platform 2 lacks basic passenger amenities like toilets, insufficient water taps, platform surface is fully irregular and very bad. Even the toilets at platform 1 is not in very good condition. 1 FOB that too very narrow, 2nd FOB work is very very slow progressing. Communication to Hijli from other parts of kharagpur and ever KGP station is very very poor, local cab mafias loot passenger and there is 0 public transport near station, only reserve cab to go to any destination and they charge high and passengers have no other option outside hijli station.

more... station development project was sanctioned in Railwsy budget many years back, but looking at the station development work ( not considering trakn watering facility and new FOB, etc as these works were / are done under separate tender) it seems there was a huge corruption in the tender works done. Money allocated but not utilized in development work.
SER have shifted many important trains to Hijli from KGP to reduce load in KGP, but facilities r not at all developed at Hijli and everyday passengers r suffering. Earlier 2 pair of KGP-HIJ EMU was started but later both trains were permanently cancelled. I recently travelled to Hijli to board BBS-NDLS Rajdhani and i faced all these issues and have discussed with other passengers boarding there and all r very angry on SER. I request SER through this forum, please improve the passenger amenities and platform surface as passengers traveling in long distance trains face problems in carrying their trolley bags in this rough irregular platform surfaces. Provide some train connectivity from Hijli towards Howrah side or atleast till KGP Station for passengers to communicate easily. At night the communication is totally bad.
