Today I wanted to book two 3AC tickets online for Sr citizen Passengers (age 87 year and 67 year old respectively) for this train from LTT to HWH (travel date 1st Feb 2013). There were 53 seats available then. While selecting the berth preference, I selected Lower berth for both the passengers and had selected "book ticket only if at least one lower berth is available". To my surprise, there was not even a single LB available. Unfortunately later I had to book whatever berth was available. On cross checking availability on this site for lower berth quota, it still showed 6 tickets available in LB quota. My question is, if LB ticket was still available, why was it not allotted to the Sr Citizen passenger aged 87 yrs? Sometime i fail to understand logic for such allotments. Can some one please throw some light on this?

If what you say is correct, this is another loophole. Can there be no 2 senior citizen passengers traveling together? What is the logic of booking tickets separately when two or more senior citizen passengers are traveling together by same train?
Today, if one looks at the seating arrangement in coaches, lower berths are generally window seats. So lets assume if young passenger is traveling alone (or even otherwise) he would prefer window seat. He / she might not be so much concerned about LB or UB. But just because window seat is a LB, the LB gets allotted to the young person. So senior citizen who desperately needs LB don't get it.
