Number of trains may be less. But it cannot handle all the trains in all the platforms. It has specific platforms for specific routes. That is the drawback with it. If all the lines are merged then rush will be reduced
This problem can be cleared by demolishing old booking counter and parcel buildings and then laying new tracks with Modified alignment so that trains coming from Gpu route can directly enter atleast upto platform 5 or even 6.Trains from Bay/ Rc /Dhne route Going towards Gpu side in future can enter all the way upto platform 5/6 . This can decongest platform 1,2,3 at peak hrs.
But railways having not interest in demolishing old building. To remove this problem they are constructing bypass line into the junction from Mallappagate(DHNE-GTL track) to Guntakal Jn(RC-GTL track). They may demolish this after 20-30yrs but now no hope. Dude.
Best example of congestion is all the two amaravati express and prasanthi exp come around 5 am. And also slip coaches for these trains attachment and detachment is also there. So here lot of time waste as prasanthi loco need to be reversed
