Should experiment with halt at Ghatkopar. This will help providing good connectivity to Sakinaka, Airport, Andheri, Versova and all the way upto Dahisar by interchanging to Metro. This will also help improve it's occupancy as these passengers may prefer this train over DQ and Pragati Exp (Boarding a local train in Mumbai needs special skills and elite class may not have those skills). Now that this train has fast acceleration and deceleration, it will just consume the same time as local train and may not hold up other trains. The feature should be leveraged.
Personally i disagree, already VB fares are exorbitant, and besides Mumbai to Pune there are many cheaper and faster alternatives available!! Your idea is good but because of other options this'll be redundant, besides the train stops at Dadar and Kalyan too.
You cannot take Metro from Dadar/Kalyan. The only possible station on CR from where Metro can be taken is Ghatkopar.
If you've seen Ghatkopar, you'd know the length of Platform.
I had the same suggestion about halt of other trains which changed after I saw Ghatkopar Station myself.
The length of Platform, the Width, the sheer crowd it handles. You would be looking at Stampede if you start halt of long distance trains there.

Even Vidyavihar wouldn't be a good choice as there's no platform for the fast line, Incase it did then we could've considered VB Halt at VVH
