This train leaves New Delhi at 2000 hours. Do they serve dinner then?

No lunch even if the train is late?
Say it reaches late by 4 hours, will they serve lunch then?

There is really no fixed rules followed in such cases. Sometimes we have come across cases in this forum where no lunch was served even if train was delayed.
How the catering person can serve food for 1000 passenger with out prior advice, unless they keep pre cooked and ready to eat food packets. More over who will bear the cost of the extra food, IRCTC or passenger ?. Caterer may sell the ready to eat food pockets.For that they have keep stock always for the use in emergency.
Base kitchen may help for that, but that too need time to prepare, there must be provision to collect the food in time.
There is a provision for back up. When trains are running inordinately late, messages are sent to base kitchen and food is picked up. It will depend upon the load on base kitchen, but generally it is provided. But we hearly ONLY where it is NOT provided. and Never about where it was provided. Good wishes.
