ABB WAP5 have fluted body coz there in Switzerland they have standard 2.5 mm thick sheets as per design need.. Here in India it was difficult to find that so we used 4 mm.. Fluted is not technical word.. its corrugated, it is done on sheets to provide extra strength without increasing the weight, that is why roof sheets, automobiles inside chassis, LHBs floor sheet etc all are made that way, even cardboard. (try to fold a plain card and a corrugated card..feel the diff). The first task 4 CLW engg was to make them low weight as much as possible.. They did so by using aluminium as much as possible.. RDSO states that it has tested P5 n WDP4 both with 10 LHBs @ 184 KMPH. WAP5 hv most advance and track friendly boggies.. It can do 225-240 KMPH by some changes in gear ratio n its software.. but then...
