This train used to start/end from Chhapra originally. It was probably extended to Thawe recently.

Purvanchal isn't necessarily the fastest train. On days it takes the loop via Mau, it easily loses two hours in the journey.
TATA has already a better alternative in place in the form of the SHM-GKP weekly Piyush, in my opinion if the slacks are ironed out, the train can even be a Superfast.
For 5 days, its bearable. 4 days via Siwan, and 1 day via Narkatiaganj. Rest 2 days, via Mau, it is about 1h 20m slow so yeah, some time goes for these 2 days. On Friday, there's an alternative as well. ASN GKP which could be taken if the passenger wants to stay at station for 4 hrs, by taking TATA DNR to ASN and then ASN GKP
Yes, but it takes a circuitous route. Moreover, timings aren't much suited as autos demand way more than the reasonable fare at that time. A person then needs to be present at the station more than 1:30 hrs before the departure for a reasonable pricing of auto. Had the route been via Asansol Patna Patliputra or via Koderma Tilaiya Rajgir Patna, the time would have been more less.
I once took this train. It had a scheduled arrival at Chhapra nearly three at night. The CPR-MTJ express starts two hrs later than this and has an arrival time before this at GKP [ though it arrived few minutes late that day after Purvanchal].
I have travelled in GD-ASN, with which ASN-GKP has an RSA with. That train was quite clean despite starting and ending at well, in the middle of nowhere.
