I took a ride in this train from Kanpur to Lucknow last week. This train had already arrived at the station when I went to take the ticket. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the local ticket was only Re 20 [only later did I know that it would involve tons of suffering for pax as well]. I had trouble finding the train because it wasn't listed on any information system though I finally got hold of it. It was generally filled but I was able to glance a window berth in one of the coaches near to the engine.

Sonik lies adjacent to Unnao on Kanpur - Lucknow main line. A rather non descript station.
Ayodhya VB and JHS-LJN ICE overtaking our passenger train on the CNB-LKO sector.
The train TB and LJN bound Swarn Shatabdi skipping the station.
Ajgain main station building and a train skipping towards Kanpur side.
A VB standing at CNB [I forget which it was, was it AGC-BSB?] and a snap of Unnao with Farakka Express in background.

IR is considering to cut down the CC for SC-NGP vande Bharat from 20 to 10 due to poor occupancy and not more than 10/88 seats are reserved in executive class. This article says IR officials are in shock due to poor response from the public. God! Person with pea sized brain can understand this route will not be crowd puller for 20CC VB. Yet railways comes up with ridiculous plan shells out the public money and prints this absurd lines “ railways recover only 57% of the cost of the travel”. An article published today in Eenadu says, the decision to cut down CC will be mostly after Maharashtra elections and Central minister G. Kishan Reddy says “ have to rethink about this train “
If 1200 seats are vacant, they should probably think of abandoning the VB on this route altogether and adding 2 GN coaches to some train; 200 people will easily constrain themselves in those 2 coaches :p.

Only 2 tracks including a loop line, this station in the city of Kanpur is the closest to IIT Kanpur. To access it from the main road, many people just cross the tracks and jump across it. There is a metro station of same name nearby. Usually, only passenger trains stop here.
