There will be travellers end to end in any train and there are certain section of travellers who are not comfortable with road travel through Bus which is expensive and takes 18 hrs. SL travellers doesn't have any other option though 2AC and 3AC can opt for bus by paying extra
Checked the charts and current availability boarding at Manguluru is
SL 350 3AC 60 2AC 30. Of these in 3AC and 2AC there 5-6 travellers from Manguluru to Kacheguda. Another 4 berths in 3AC are occupied from Mangalore to Coimbatore and from Coimbatore to KCG which leaves at 400 and arrives at 2330hrs. The train has good booking from Kozhikode.

Instead of doing all this railways can take this train from KCG to SRR via- KRNT, ATP, YNK, Kunigal, Hassan, Mangalore.Jn, Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode and Tirur. It would barely take around 1270km which would save around 260km compared to on travelling around 1530KM, as the other part down the Kerala from SRR can be connected by sabari Express and can easily make this train as daily train as this route will take around 19 to 20 hr to reach Mangalore and for sure it will definitely run with full occupancy, as from the north of the Kerala as it takes even less time as compared to the existing route. It would just take 25hrs30min in reaching the destination with an average speed of 49KMPH as the route is ghat section between hassan, sakleshpura and subramanya road and the coach composition can be fixed to 16 by giving 2-EOG,2-UR, 1-HA, 1-A, 3-B,...

Check my imaginary train. It's a practically feasible train , except neither SWR nor SCR bother about it.

They are not giving path through Hassan Manguluru for passenger trains due to safety concerns and cargo slots. after pressures from MP of Karnataka of Manguluru region they cleared Benguluru MYS Manguluru spl so who will take up the cause of train to Hyderabad? You just can't blame SCR in this matter with half knowledge. Even Spl to Bijapur is running after lot of followup and pressure with loose TT.
