End of a Glorious Era !
Today marks the last diesel run of 13161/62 Kolkata - Balurghat - Kolkata Tebhaga Express, the only regular mail/express in Eastern Railway which was left with end to end diesel traction until today (except the international services to Bangladesh, Maitri Exp & Bandhan Exp). The up train already had its last diesel run yesterday while the down train was the final curtain call.

The first ER train to run with Electric traction was the ASN-BE passenger now ASN-BSB MEMU Express back in 1957-59.
With Tebhaga Express being the latest train to switch over from Diesel to Electric traction, this truly marks the end of era for Eastern Railways.

However, the chapter is not entirely complete. We still have Kolkata - Radhikapur which changes traction at Azimganj in ER. It's definitely a curtain call for end to end diesel traction but if we take about diesel hauled passenger traffic in any form or shape, we still have 13145/46
