my journey involves two trains the first an express for which i can book tickets on the net and then a connecting passenger train.can i book a single ticket for the whole journey or is there any other way without buying a second ticket for the second leg of my journey.i heard that blank paper tickets are not issued now

you can book a telescopic ticket for the whole journey if the journey legs fulfill the criteria of telescopic tickets. blank paper tickets are still issued and are very much valid. if you could enumerate the journey leg along with kilometres of travel in each leg we could enlighten you further. also it is only valid for prs tickets. not e tickets. thanks

my journey is from chennai to coimbatore by kovai express and then from coimbatore to thrissur by passenger train via shoranur.(ther will be no time to buy a second ticket at coimbatore also what is prs ticket

yes, you can book a prs ticket in the following manner.
from chennai central, to thrissur
boarding at chennai central reservation upto coimbatore. pls note that in this case you need to pay the express fare till thrissur and can board any mail/express till tcr from cbe. (except those trains which have kilometre restrictions in place). you need not book any separate ticket reserved/unreserved passenger/express for the journey leg of cbe to tcr.

ticket is a ticket booked from railway resvn counters. prs stands for passenger reservation system.
