I've noticed something else:
These guys without tickets who sneak into AC compartments are more common in trains from Patna than in trains from Gaya.

All three of our regular trains come from the Gaya side and we've never had any issues with someone else taking our seat.

Also, there's a 50-70% higher crowd in trains going to Patna.

I think this could be because Gaya and Kaimur region have fewer people and higher per capita income.
