Irony is due to their fault a railway coach got damaged and yet they're getting compensation.
Apart from them railway officials, train attendant, IRCTC are equally responsible.

Doing it for 1-2 station or few station for some particular festival or reason is easy but for doing it for the whole huge network of IR is a challenging task and requires huge investment in infrastructure.

A railway coach got damaged & possibility of fire spreading to other coaches of Punalur - Madurai express (if incident happened before separating the coach at Madurai) or other coaches standing in Madurai yard. Totally irresponsible behaviour of passengers in the coach. No compensation should be given for their own mistake.
