Now a light rail for Tirumala!
The TTD keeps coming up with new plans to ease the rush at Tirupathi and also make it easy for the pilgrims to go to Tirumala from Tirupathi in the shortest possible time. The ropeway was seen as the answer to all problems. But for more than a decade now, the issue is still in the debating stage.
Many agama experts have advised against the idea of a ropeway across the seven hills. So the government has shelved the project as of now. Now the TTD authorities...

are mooting a light rail from Tirupathi to Tirumala. The idea is to carry as many pilgrims from Tirupathi quickly so that the rush at Tirupathi would be cleared. A survey is likely to be taken up shortly to ascertain the feasibility of the light rail project.
