Isn't the former route longer than Konkan why keep a train dragging when alternative exists.
well I don't think Sr will start navyug again, political pressure may work
shorter route is avbl for kerala via konkan but beyond Coimbatore, shorter one is the route which Himsagar is taking. Not every train is meant for End to end passengers. Some serve intermediate ones too.
