finally my Favourite train 22159 will get LHB Coaches from February 23. im very excited about this news, although due to rake standardization im a bit disappointed but overall im VERY Excited.

Edit as of 25/12/2023: Apparently CC was changed to 1 SLR, 1 EOG, 2 GS, 2 SL, 8 3E, 2 2A = 16 Coaches.

you just dodged my point and absolutely nuked it. what i mean is, theres approx 1.8 Billion people in our country, each with their own needs and demands, Demand is a need which is backed by price. And in today's day and age, If you look at ALL the Superfast trains, Especially those of in UP/Bihar (Not generalizing here) there seems to be a High demand for Sleeper Coaches.... Why? you may ask

Because, look at the Economy first, look at what the population WANTS, Why Sleeper Seems to be crowded over there, Why theres so MANY Trains between Mumbai - Patna/Gorakhpur and basically other cities of North


Its because its Simply its People's Choices, and What People Want is Sleeper Coaches, Why?? Because in Today's day and age, As i said before, theres a Lot of us, belonging from a Lot of Areas, and Belonging from lots of Communities, Some prefer AC 3T, AC 2, and those who CAN afford AC 1st, Will Look at the train's Timings and other transport Timings, IF the Other Modes are faster Then they WILL Take the Other Modes, 1st AC Travellers Will Usually NOT Take Trains Unless Either one of the following is applied

1) Train is the Only way to reach destination (Rare Case)
2) Train Timings are Suitable (Somewhat Rare/Uncommon Case)
3) Railfan/Prefer Trains over other Transport (Also Rare)

So as you can see 1st AC Travellers CAN and WILL Travel on Trains Depending on WHAT IS the SCENARIO


Now Coming back to Sleeper. Due to Rake Standardization, Railways is Reducing the Sleeper Class, THIS IS LEADING TO Crowding in AC Classes WHICH IS TO BE EXPECTED. Since These SL Passengers WHO Earlier HAD Their OWN Coaches, NOW Have NO Place to EVEN STAND, Hence THE OBVIOUS CROWDING IN AC Classes, Which BTW You CANNOT Clear UNLESS You ADD MORE NON AC Coaches RELIEVING The AC Compartments of UNNECCESSARY Travellers.

INFACT if Railways WANTS to MAKE SLEEPER Profitable AGAIN, Here is a Advice You Should follow upto IR and See for yourselves.

1) Increase Fare Brackets UPTO 15%, Lets say Mumbai Chennai SL Ticket costs 500 Rs, adding a 15% Charge that would make it Worth as Railways NOW Earns 575 Rs as compared to the Original 500 Rupees

Now multiply by Amount of SL Berths

(ignoring all the Tatkal bookings, these figures might be higher)

Per Seat:

(Assuming a train with 8 SL)


575 Rs x 80 = 46,000 Rs (One LHB SL Coach Booked)
80 x 8 = 640 (Seats in all 8 SL Coaches)
640 x 575 = 3,68,000 (Total Revenue)

(For Rake Standardized Trains, having 2 SL)

575 x 80 = 46,000
80 x 2 = 160
160 x 575 = 92,000

So, with just a 15% increase in fare, for every run, Railways earns a total of 3,68,000 (if my math is wrong anywhere, feel free to correct me..!!)

and Railways can also use this system in Vande Sadharan as applying 10% on SL Fares and GS should be Reserved and 5% raise can also happen in GS, so Revenue can be generated and Sleeper Class Won't be Loss making anymore..!!

SL is still needed in trains which connect metro cities like Mumbai Chennai Delhi, as people travelling to these cities will be in a Bulk, and most of them will pay 15% extra to get a ticket and won't question it since it doesnt hurt them as much as Less SL Coaches Hurts them..!! Hope you understand this!!
