Interesting case, i wonder if SR can use this route for regular trains too?
Given the congestion in both MAS and MS (especially in morning and night hours), i don't think they will consider the same for regular trains. Practically now quadrupling of MS MSB is going on (single line for M/EXP/SF is getting doubled now) and the line from VLCY also coming after MPK/MPKT onwards. So need to see how things come out.
it can easily use but there is no need. only tourism train needs such routing. So Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari trains can take this route but those train also can be routed via salem to cover vellore(Kadpadi) so there is not much regular trains. In my opinion Sethu or boatmail, MS CAPE, Mannai and Chendoor can go MAS.
Actually both are terminals so normally trains don't run in this route as it will be a little U turn. However this case it is train having RSA with NZM garibrath which starts from MAS they are running to MAS I feel.
