the reverse timings between DLCR-GHY is bad, should have been a night train in the hill section with an early morning arrival at GHY. it would have a fitting reply to the bus mafia operational in the Barak Valley region

Yeah... but parking line is must for the smooth running of the local trains without disrupting their service....
There are 2 lines at DLCR but 1 Platform.... suppose they place 15617/18 at the 2nd line till night and opens up the Platform for the local train... how will be the loco reversal takes place for the return journey of the local train... for that we need another parking line.... and most importantly 05688 stays at DLCR the whole night... so how they will place 05688 when the 2nd line is occupied by 15617/18... that's why they are running the down train (15618) as a day night train instead of overnight
