Ultra sound testing is done to know about condition of track by making sound. Crack on track can be detected with the help of sound. The interval between two inspections depends on some factors. Mostprobably these are standard of track, pressure on track, speed of the trains on that track etc. I guess this test is done by Ultra sound machine.
