It will be loss to Belgavi city as it's about 8.5km from the present station. Is the city extended towards Miraj side along the railway track and any new residential colonies developed in last 20yrs towards north of Belgavi?
That is the tussle now. Farmers are telling current proposed line soon after Kittur and Hirebagewadi traverses through KK Koppa till Desur is highly fertile and not ready to give up. Instead suggested to take the line parallel to NH-48 and join it to Belagavi outer, making 'Y' join. BGM terminating train will still come to City station, where as long distance trains may need to use Belagavi(Sambra) Junction to avoid loco reversal.
Kanabaragi, Sulebhavi, Sambra are the areas developed with near by Airport proximity.
Sambra railway station is admist surrounded by fields with no habitat there. The village and airport are away from station. In fact the topography looks the same as that of Desur in Google maps.
Yes, around 1 sqkm nothing. After that new outskirt areas are developed like Kanabaragi, Sambra, Marihal and Sulebhavi villages.
