Booking a Connecting Train Ticket on Indian Railways:

If you are booking a Connecting Train Ticket on Indian Railways, complete the booking via the Connecting Journey Booking feature which allows passengers to claim a full refund (for the 2nd part of the journey) if they miss the second train because of the delay in the arrival of the first train.

facility has been available since 2019 but not publicised properly. You may book a connecting train ticket online from the IRCTC portal as well as booking counters. (Screenshot of IRCTC Option attached below)

If you miss the 2nd train due to late running of the first train, then you need to file a TDR within 3 hours of the arrival of the first train to claim full refund without any deductions.
