Pehle ye Delhi - Varanasi Ganga Yamuna Express thi. Fir iska extension ek side mein Bhiwani ho gaya aur dusre side mein Danapur ho gaya. Us time bhi naam Ganga Yamuna Express tha. Fir around 1992 ke aaspaas isko Malda Town Tak extend kar Diya gaya aur naam bhi change ho kar Farakka Express ho gaya.

Isme ek MTJ - BSB/DNR/MLDT Link Express bhi judti thi Tundla Jn se.
