I was there three weeks ago and not much has changed since September 2023. People living near the border, especially in villages on the Kiccha - Rudrapur - Kashipur Belt, have taken serious advantage of the situation. A lot of them have defaulted on multiple bank loans. The banks are facing a bunch of issues in court because of jurisdiction problems. And let me tell you, managing electricity connection to get a cheaper bill is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this fraudulent behavior.
