I want to confirm a rule for ticket cancellation. What is the deadline for ticket cancellation after which 25% of the fare is deducted? There are conflicting rules on the internet. While some say that you need to cancel ticket one day in advance (excluding the date of journey) and some others say you need to cancel more than 24 Hrs before the scheduled departure of the train. Which of these is correct and when was this changed?

Yes, I read the rules there and gathered that if you cancel before 24 hrs before scheduled departure, you will get full money (less 60). But there were some other websites which mention that you need to cancel ticket 1 day in advance (excluding the date of journey) to get full money (less 60) otherwise, 25% of fare will be deducted. I just wanted to ensure which of these is correct and did Govt. change this policy at any time of there is some mis communication.

Let me explain to you with an example.
Suppose a Train X running from A to B, is to depart tomorrow from A at 18:00hrs. To get full refund I must cancel the ticket today BEFORE 18:00hrs.
Note:- You must not calculate 24hrs based on intermediate stations. For eg. You have booked in Train X from any intermediate station C which the train arrives at 00:30hrs day after tomorrow, pl do not consider that you can still cancel the ticket after the scheduled original dept. of the train i.e 18:00hrs.
Once
...
again, for full refund 24hrs before is to be canculated from the scheduled dept. of the train.
