eticket is the best way to purchase Rly ticket .I donot want to understand why Railway staff and railway minister doing misbehave with eticket. This the one and only way to get fast reservation from anywhere in the world. Think if a man living in Rural Area and there is not available any Rly reservation counter so how there people go for reservation.

Because not every person wants transparency in the system. And the e-ticketing system is by far the most transparent wing of the ever confusing IR.
But do not worry system is changing (very slowly though) as RTI and more & more GOI organizations are going online.

after introduction of irctc, at present approx 30% of tickets sold are booked through irctc (through logins - both i & e tkts combined). this info was got from a newspaper item published a few days back. unfortunately i could not post in rail news as my broadband did not work on that day.
so irctc has definitely brought in a revolution, at least 1 out of 3 does not go to the prs. that much of money is saved by all persons, organizations (cost of transportation, time in queue) etc. now CRIS, the organisation behind the computerization of system will take over ticketing also. lets see what changes they make for the bettr.
