I noticed that in this train and many other trains via KR,there is a large difference between "official" distance and the distance given on the train page.
Why is it so & why is there a difference in official & mentioned Kms....could someone clarify...

To recover the cost of construction and heavy cost of maintenance of the Konkan railway Line. The distances over Konkan Railway route are inflated by 40% for coaching (passengers) traffic and by 50% for freight traffic.
Is this because railway charges according distance & indirectly is levying higher tariff on KR?

Don't have much idea about it but I think to recover cost of construction under KR as Siddharth Bhai have told
KR:- PNVL to MAJN is 832 kms original. But you can see distance in TAAG Book given 1156 kms. PNVL-MAO 517 kms given as 742 kms & MAO-MAJN 315 kms distance given as 414 kms.
