Is there a price difference if one books in this train b/w LJN-GKP compared to Krishak express for same end to end stations? Either case, my argument as to why this is the superior train for overnight travel between Lucknow and Gorakhpur is firstly, it takes more time [by ~2 hrs], so giving the passenger more time to sleep; secondly, unlike the Krishak which goes to BCY, it terminates at GKP, so a passenger doesn't need to wake up before 0600 hrs only to find his train delayed by an hour and still can't go back to sleep because of the fear of skipping GKP.

There is a price difference of over ₹100 between the Krishak and Mailani, when booking tickets in 3A and 2A classes between GKP and LJN. If you're booking 3A in Mailani, it might be worth spending an additional ₹100 to book 2A in Krishak.
Typically, Krishak is the preferred choice for passengers traveling overnight between GKP and LJN. When Krishak is fully booked, passengers opt for Mailani, as Krishak is faster and travels through a safer and more well known route.

I travelled once in GTNR-CI Express. Since I wasn't able to sleep properly at night, I did see people getting off POST GKP, especially on the Thawe route. I don't think much people got down at GKP due to especially bad timings at GKP.
I'm talking about CPR - GTNR, it's departure time is 1:00 AM @GKP and arrival at around 6:30 in the morning at @GTNR.
It's really not that inconvenient, I've checked the charting of CPR - GTNR quite a few times and found that it had 300+ boarding at GKP (it's really easy to get a ticket in this train too). Although it primarily serves serves the district of Kushinagar (Padrauna, Kaptanganj etc).

Yes, I was able to get a last minute ticket in SL class in this train back in the day.I think it used to start from proper CPR and go to LJN when it was originally introduced.
PPTA-LJN gets pax traveling from GKP bound for LJN? Odd. I assumed mainly folks traveling to Patna would use it.It has a seriously bad arrival time at LJN.
