The Ministry of Railways is committed to passenger safety and is installing Kavach 4.0 on 10,000 locomotives, prioritizing high-density routes like the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors. In Northern Railways, 1,790 route kilometres have been sanctioned for Kavach installation, including sections in Punjab like Chandigarh to Dhulkot and Ferozepur to Bathinda. To cater to the upcoming festivals, 6,000 special trains will be operated across the country, with Northern Railways running 161 trains contributing to 2,882 trips.
