It's a successful one. Once if 17021 Slip Service is discontinued the train will automatically speeds up nothing to worry about.
Even bus takes approx 18hrs to reach Goa from Hyderabad.
Gadi ka jaroorat Hain and it's the struggle of 9years and the most safe way to reach Goa only few complained about it's time...

Train needs to be speeded up I agree but looking at the current route the least time it can take is 18 to 18.5 hours nothing more than that.
17039 avg. speed is 42kph and 17040 is 39kph. Those are too low atleast 45kph should be the average speed.

Jinko jana hai wo jayenge. People go out and travel if they have to, they don't need expert opinions.
And if there weren't a demand, SCR wouldn't have given a full length rake as a replacement for a slip train. The terrain is difficult, heavy freight traffic, these things play a great role in real world.

Also it's just a biweekly replacement to the 4 days KCG VSG slip which is getting cancelled to pave way for LHB conversion of 17603/04 and 18047/48 and the slip cancels from 6th November so post that this train's demand will rise too and maybe SCR and SWR gets on the same page sometimes in future and speeds this one up. Literally cancelling the slip and allowing dedicated SC VSG train was a pretty long pending demand now getting fulfilled so it's like something is better than nothing.
