Train No 17003/4 Hyderabad Kolhapur Express takes an aweful 23 hours for this journey. As a result, it is not used by anyone for end-to-end journeys, but just for small legs.
This train can run via SUR on some days of the week and via UBL on others, that way connectivity concerns of north Karnataka can be addressed, while reducing travel time between HYD-KOP. This will also provide some traffic on the new line from KOP-SUR.
