I have one query. If in particular train from Mumbai to Delhi, If Mumbai to Delhi reservation is available & from Kota to Delhi is in waiting list & if person wants to travel from Kota to Delhi then can he do reservation from BCT- NDLS & boarding point Kota-NDLS?

My friend want to travel from Renigunta to CST, but he is getting PQWL, what are the chances of clearance in this train otherwise he is exploring the first option i.e. book for long distance & then change the boarding point.
