Recently I visited Howrah station. I am surprised about the situation of this station. Station is very large, but management is very low. Howrah town is very inhygenic, dirty, uncleaned and vogus town.Traffic management is very poor. What a hail Howrah city is! Terminal in Mumbai is far better than Howrah.Mumbai CST has 18 platforms,Mumbai LTT has 12 platforms, that is why they are better one.Howrah containing 23 platform,I remark that huge 23 platform is the only reason for bad condition of Howrah.Follow Mumbai, make more terminals within 20 platform at differnt location.I heard from passengers that Kolkatan depend for long travelling only on Howrah.Other terminals are lame. Why?????I can not get answer.Hope anybody will answer

Hello Sunil,
I sympathise with your horrendous experience. But I disagree with your comparison. Howrah is not Mumbai or vise versa. Mumbai is the business capital and has its own standard where as Howrah has no such thing. Howrah dist is developed at its natual course. It was not a planned city. Mostly it had jute mills, fabrication and foundry shops. Low and middle class labour force use to home in the city majorly till late 90s. As the mills close down due to morder economy high rise concrete bldgs poped up which is occupied by some what rich people of Burra Bazar for its close proximity. So the population kept multiplying and the situation what you have described is the outcome...
