MailguardSG25~ 24054 blog postsWhile the NH-31 has remained in disastrous condition,the 75718 Bamanhat-Siliguri Jn DEMU & 75720 Coochbehar Malda Town DEMU was the only source of hope for the people of North Bengal.The starting was quite good.The Bamanhat Siliguri DEMU started first followed by the Coochbehar Malda Town DEMU.Not only Dooars,but it was a matter of joy for the remote villages bordered by Bangladesh.After finishing essential work,they could’ve returned the same day from Siliguri.The travelling expenses were also minimum.Naturally these two trains gathered so much popularity in so less time.But as the time is progressing,people have only became hopeless about these trains.Often the train leaving Bamanhat early in the morning,reaches back on the next calendar day.

Looking at the infrastructure of North Bengal which is really in a grim situation... Road condition are pathetic...
Even NBSTC ( North Bengal State Transport Corporation ) are not running buses to meet the passenger demand... Few months back NBSTC purchased new buses but they didn't run in North Bengal routes... Centre...

sILIGURI Balurghat DEMU is running but not amongst the popularity list because the train leaves @ 04:45 from Balurghat & often terribly delayed,it uses a detour via Eklakhi.Once the land issue becomes settled & laying of BG Track between Gazole(17 km before Eklakhi towards Balurghat) & Kaliyaganj becomes complete,distance between S.DInajour with other parts of N.BEngal will considerably reduce by atleast 45-50 km,also no Loco REversal required for trains like Balurghat Intercity..But tat is a distant dream as of now.
