The SBC-ERS Inter city was delayed for about 3 hrs after an Over Head Traction wire snapped near Erode on Thursday 4th April.
Subsequently The Kovai Exp, CBE Duronto and other trains also delayed. The Rly officials said that if the wire got snapped when the train was passing and fell on the coaches, it would have resulted in a major accident. But the Railway workers spotted the hanging wire and stopped the power supply quickly averting a major mishap.

A snapped wire should suspend power instantaneously. There should be some mechanism for this.
