Happy Vishu to one and all.
The day commenced auspiciously at about 5 AM.The elders of the family shield the eyes of the young and lead them to the puja room where pictures and idols of popular deities are arranged with a colourful arrangement of vibrant yellow KANI flowers ,the rich ochre cucumber and other produce of the same shade.The same is viewed and KAINEETAM or monetary offerings are doled out to members of the family by the eldest member.The day proceeds gaily with much feasting and rites.
