I want to travel SBC-RMM via MAS/MS. Is 55 minutes connecting times between MAS->MS advisable in order to catch 16701/Boat Mail?
Any other suggestions to travel SBC-RMM (only rail) are also most welcome.

If you are travelling alone i suggest you to go ahead else look for other alternatives. Thanks.
Any idea how long it can take by auto to reach Egmore (around 9PM) and approx. auto fare. Thanks again.
15 Mins max. There are two entry points for MS one from Egmore side and one from Dinathanthi side. Go for Dinathanthi side it will be quick. Thanks.
