What is Captcha Software ? Does it help anyway in booking IRCTC tkts ?

When you do booking in the IRCTC website after you fill in all details, it asks to enter verification code. The letters in the verification code image is distorted and with complicated background. You have to physically enter the numbers from the key board. This prevents someone design a program to make repeated bookings and corner all the accommodation. Captcha software is used by IRCTC like this.
Ok but is there any software or script by which the image is automatically loaded ( no need to type)
Sir, the purpose of the software is only to defeat the intention suggested by you. If you go through the wikipedia link, you fill find that earlier captcha images of Yahoo could be copied and entries made. Therefore Yahoo introduced a line across the letters. The captcha software requires the letters to be entered from the key board and not the distorted characters copied. But the police and thief game is always on in the software industry. There may be some nerd who is working on or already invented a method to circumvent the captcha requirements.
