Actually the Konkan railway had plans to run trains at 150 kmph on its tracks. But CRS did not give permission and after the matsyagandha accident the plan was totally dropped. The trains run max at 120 kmph on KR now. BTW the test run was a very successful one highest speed achieved was 165 kmph but shortlived.........

Konkan Railway is designed to have speed of 150-160 km/hr but after 2 accidents of Matsyagandha Express(1st pic) and Karwar Mumbai Holiday spl (2nd pic) the plan was totally cancelled. But now KR is taking plans to carry the speed of 110 to 130. The plans of electrifications are taking place. If the both accients were not taken place then the fastest train of Indian railway would be of Konkan Railway. Now IFC coaches are trying to exceed limits on KR. The limit is 110 for IFC coaches(excluding JS).
