Hi..
I had booked a tatkal ticket for my father for LKO Shatabdi for tomorrow using irctc.co.in
While booking i wrongly entered "gender" as Female. I realised this when the final ticket was booked and confirmed.
IS there any way my father can undergo this journey?? He has all other documentary proof as mentioned in the booking, viz. PAN number etc.

Contact the Station Master and inform him and get your Ticket Endorsed with him, that your father is eligible to Travel with this ticket and he will modify it in the PRINTout,

I think it will not be a big issue PRACTICALLY. show the mobile sms with mentioned ID details.

Actually when i called the irctc helpline, the lady over the phone told me that this virtually amounts to forging and one would be practically dependent on the TTE's whim. If he allows then ok, otherwise one would be treated as ticktless and has to pay the penalty.
Guess this made me a bit jittery!! :)

officially they can not say more than this. every call they respond, get recorded. so this is their standard stereo reply.
